window clicks but won't go down

Hello folks,

Anyone have any idea on why a specfic window in my truck won't go down. All my windows work with the exception of the passenger window - it just makes a clicking noise when you press either the driver's button to engage it or the button on its door. It did this a couple of times before but just started working again almost right away but now its been a couple of weeks and its driving me nuts :banghead:---any suggestions or help?

Derek

Could be a broken gear or something coming loose, causing the attachment to the motor to not make sufficient contact.

Only way to know for sure is to take it apart. Doesn't take but a minute to get the doorpanel off.

thanks for the response ...what's the easiest way to get the panel off? I took off the window button panel already ...does anyone know a link to show it?

It's getting hot out there and the wife hates AC :-)

Its been about a year since I've fooled with it, I think there are 7mm hex screws at the base of the door panel, and just underneath the armrest. I think there is a third somewhere. I'm not sure if you have to remove the triangular trim piece by the window or not, if you do it just pulls directly off.

Once you have all of the hex screws out, lift the doorpanel directly up a few inches and pull away from the door. I'll take a look at my truck after work and see if I can remember better =).

Could be the motor's bad and you are hearing the relay click? Yes, you should pull the door panel off and check it out. It would help to know the year. On my '02 I think I had to pull the map pocket out prior to removing the panel.

there are 2 screws below armrest and sometimes 1 behind lock lever. then pop off mirror cover on inside and unplug and remove all switch panels. then lift door panel off and unplug domelight in door and set aside panel. should be very easy once all screws are out the door panel will slide straight up farily easy.

I had the same thing last week. I did mine (for the first time) over the weekend and it was about a 1/2 hour job. The second screw is behind the pop-off window/lock controls.
