Intake on a 95 2.2L

I'm pretty noob to cars and stuff so I have some questions about the intake I just installed in my 95 2.2L cavy. I found the stuff I needed at the local store and I think I did a pretty good job of setting it up. It wasn't difficult at all. The thing is, there's a wire (some mass air flow thing according to my friend) that was connected the stock tube thing and there's no place to connect it to the tube I purchased. Should I just make a hole and put it in the tube? How do you think I should go about this? Is it okay to drive around without it connected? Also, I feel that I connected the entire intake too high and I dont think it's in a good position to get air, so I'd like to lower it. How do you guys suggest attaching something like this...I really have no clue how to do it and the pieces I bought are not meant for my car, I had to rig it myself since I could not find a k&n connection tube for the cavalier. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me or any info I should know that I missed.

post some pictures so we can see what were dealing with. and u need to go to a welder and have them weld in a bung (i think thats how you spell it) for the mass air sensor.

Okay, I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow. You're probably all gonna laugh your asses off though...I have the feeling it's gone wrong somehow. I wouldn't really be on here if it didn't I guess.

If you don't mind the Check engine light being on then you don't exactly need it, but if you still have the rubber plug thing at the end of the sensor then just make a hole in the pipe and make sure it's not loose enough to fall out.

I do still have the "rubber plug thing." I planned on just making a hole I guess and putting it in. The tubing I have is a hard kind of plastic, not metal. Is this bad? I've been reading a lot of forums and such saying I should have used metal piping. Maybe I could just insulate the tubing? I did take a picture but I couldn't figure out how to get it in the reply, i'm not good with computer stuff really. Also, should I have taken out the air box and ran the intake down that path, because currently it's just in the space in front of the fan.
