Bronco rear end

Correct me if im wrong but doesn't the 78-79 ford bronco xlt come with a ford 9 inch. My buddy claims its an 8.8, hes a ford guy and i built my bronco and never really touched the rear axle. The 8.8 and the 9 look similar but i could have sworn all 78-79's came with a 9 inch. Some one please prove me right

the 9" came with a bolted cover on the back and the 8.8" doesn't have the bolts that is the easiest way to tell

Try again buddy, 9 inch is a 3rd member differential, similair to that of the 8.8 but the housing and internals are slightly different, do some research.
