Gas In Oil????

HELLO EVERYONE,
i have a 89 pioneer 4.0 and i checked my oil today and it was way past the full mark. i changed the oil about 300 miles ago and figured id check it. it smells like gas and there is no milky stuff in it so i dont think its antifreeze. Is my problem blow by????? and if so can anyone tell me what i need to replace to stop this. I know it is going to involve tearing the motor down but would like to know specifically what i need to replace. I use 10 40 oil and i use a whole thing of lucas oil stabalizer do you think this keeps the oil thick enough with the gas mixed in???? thanks in advance

How does it run?If it runs ok,I would check the pcv system first.It is normal to get a small amount of fuel in the oil but the pcv should be able to handle it.That's what its for.I would also check the fuel pressure regulator.Pull the vacuum hose off while its running and see if any gas comes out.If it does,the regulator is bad and a lot of fuel is being sucked into the engine.Those are the only things I have seen cause this besides an engine that has a pretty bad misfire.

It Runs Fine With 145,000 Miles. Is The Pcv The One On The Front Or The Back Of The Valve Cover??? The One On The Front Of The Cover Is Split At The Grommet. Would This Have Anything To Do With It???? Also What Vac Line Should I Check??

Pcv would make it run rough, and cut out maybe , but not in the intermittent way you describe.

Oops..that sounds like an electrical issue, and is definitely outside what I know.

1. Are you sure there is gas in the oil? When you drain the oil the gas and oil will separate into two layers with the gas on top because it is lighter. Make a test.
2. I once had this on a VW Rabbit I was servicing and the fuel pressure regulator had a pinhole in it and it started flooding the intake manifold and got into the oil. The other possibility might be the evaporative tank valve (for the charcoal cannister) that gets vaccuum from the throttle body.
