My headlights on my 95 hatchback are like tan which i assume is from age. If I were to take off the headlights and clean the inside, will the tanish color go away? If not any other suggestions as of what to do or what it is?

It's mianly oxidation and just wear. Over tmie the sun does taht to them.

go to autozone or similar, and buy some flitz, yeah, that stuff you see on the commercials, I havent used it, but it's cheap and supposedly works.

Otherwise, you could wetsand them, but unless you have some experience with that, I wouldn't suggest it.

I used rubbing compound and it seemed to help a lot.

Its the outside surface that weathers mostly ... not the inside.

I've heard good things about Blue Magic metal polish. METAL polish, not plastic.

After reading these posts I decided to go out and try "BRASSO". Here's the results after just doing one headlight:

You can get Brasso at grocery stores and hardware stores.
