Painting

When painting the parts of the body that go around the windows on the car body, and the part that the windshield wipers sit on, do you paint that gloss, semi gloss, or flat black? Thanks

I've always used flat black since it looks more realistic.

Semi gloss black...when airbrushed it's just a tad glossier than the too-flat flatness of flat black :)

um...id say flat black..

but i gotta confess, ive always used a permanent marker, cuz i tried painting it and fuc*ed up the paint job...:p :( :rolleyes:

Permanent markers are pretty good for small details, but Sharpie brand markers have a nasty purple/red glow when applied to shiny surfaces. Found that out on a near-perfect mustang model...

X-18 shot through airbrush. leaves a more even sheen than brush painting. look at real cars they're not flat black. more like a polished rubber look, not dried out and faded. use flat black if you're going for the used, weather beaten look.
