Questions re purchase after release

I'm toying with the idea of purchasing a 350z pretty soon, but I'm hesitant to make purchase a car I haven't driven. My question is: will prices go up beyond MSRP when the car is actually released? Additionally, will I be able to get one after such time, or will they all be sold into the next century? Thanks

I plan on buying mine late this year or early neat year so I can avoid higher prices and it gives more time for feedback from owners.

I just ordered my Z in the past couple of weeks. Remember that there are some serious people lining up to buy this car with people ordering these cars all the way back to February. I've been told that I can expect my Z to arrive before the end of 2002 but certainly no earlier than October. That's potentially a 5 month wait. Some other dealers in my area have stated that there wouldn't be any chance on taking delivery on one until after the new year.

You'll start seeing feedback from owners in the next couple of weeks. On some other forum sites, there are people expecting delivery of their Z's in 7 days.

Most people are paying just msrp. I don't see any reason for that to increase as time goes on. There was some talk of dealers not making cars available until they were on the lot, possibly to create a competitive bidding situation where the cars could sell for more than msrp.

I'd say talk to your dealer about it but honestly, from my experience, us Z fans seem more informed than they do. Check out this and other forums like freshalloy.com and my350z.com about that sort of thing.

I most likely am going to order my 350z around November, but they're so many nice cars that are coming out that it's hard to say if I am completley positive.

I went to Boradwalk Nissan in Redwood City last night and the delaer was trying to get a bidding war going on between myself and another guy who was interested. We both left and headed to the BMW dealer for a 325.

That's really funny. Fuck that, I did the same thing, they kept playing with me saying that they're gonna get a 350z in and they didn't so I just got upset and bought a Volkswagon GTI VR6. It's cheaper.

Nissan dealers are trying to screw the people who ordered the 350Z and the ones who want to buy one now.
Don't even negotiate.
Offer MSRP and walk if they ask for more.
They will call you back in a few days. So many people are backing out of their orders that the dealers are getting worried.

Any feedback on why some buyers are walking away from their orders?

I too have seen this. Is it just normal "cold feet" buyers, or is something else going on?

Dan
