Fuel injecters pulse, and when they do they tick.
if you put your finger on one while the engine is running you can feel it.
This does not sound like your problem though.
I had some valve sticking probs on a base model 3000gt that had 70,000 miles on it. It made a ticking sound. I ran 1 quart of Marvels Mystery oil mixed in with Mobile 1 full synthetic, for approximately 1500-2000 miles. Afterwards drained and changed the oil again with mobile 1 full synthetic oil . Goodbye Ticking.
The engine now has 117,000 miles on it, runs like a charm still no tapping. I treat it with Marvels every so often to keep it clean.
RUNS GREAT.
This may not solve your problem, but I have a feeling it may.
