Man, I put myself in those people's shoes (The one's having their vehicles being destroyed), and I thought, "man I might lose any form of rationale". let me retract some of what i stated because at the time i was not 100% sober.

i'm not racist in the least, i've got plenty of black, asian, mexican, spanish, etc friends and we are all cool. i listen to rap, i don't buy the cd's of course :grinyes: but i do listen to rap, country, rock, etc i'm open minded to music. IT took me years to accept rap as "music" because they hardly play an instrument. The lyrics are what i was leaning towards. "Hustlin, Murderin, Bitches, Hoes, Cash Money, Robbin, Raping, Stealing, Vandalizing," just to say a few are in alot of songs that are played on the radio. Rap is a fad, like disco. Eventually it'll pass, but it's dissapointing that people let their small children listen to that stuff. I grew up on oldies growing up. hell i thought "i think we're alone now" was a current hit. i didn't even think that there was more than one radio station because my parent's never changed it. I like rap, but i also have a brain, which most of the people in that video did not have. I'm serious, if the songs and media didn't provoke half of that crap, it wouldn't be done so much. who in their right mind tears up a 60k vehicle on a whim? much less someone's you don't know or have any beef with?

Call me old fashioned, i'm all for some slapping them with a glove and grabbing the swords for a duel.

I've got friends of all colors, not a problem with any of them, I don't hate rap music either, some of it has good beats which is fine by me. Just the messages some rappers portray... for instance, 50 Cent, he's a hardcore thug rapper. He has to put on a bullet proof vest on his kid to go anywhere...

What kind of life is that to portray? That random violence on folks is okay, as long as you can put a good beat behind it?



But, while we're on the subject of music portraying violence, let's look at the complete 180 of Rap music. Heavy death metal... now most of it just blaring guitar riffs with d00ds shouting catchy phrases like "dieee" "killll" "maiimm!!!" and "cupcakkesss!!!" ... well maybe not the last one.

Now, it's been a long time since I've seen or heard of a heavy metal concert ending with folks getting shot, stabbed or something like that cause they were wearing the wrong color. Simply because death metal guys wear all black, so everybody is in the same 'crew' when you break it all down.

I guess my point is, in comparison to Rap music, when was the last time you heard of a Death Metal band, or front man getting in trouble with the law in conjuction with a murder, or was arrested on charges of posession of weapons? I can't think of any. Although, recently we did have the attacks from a crazed fan who shot and killed Pantera's guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrel.

Rockers die of natural causes... plane crashes (Randy Rhoads of Ozzy Osbourne), bus crashes (Cliff Burton of Metallica), and over dosing drugs (Jimmy Hendrix). Perfectly God given deaths... infact I think they're all mention in the Bible somewhere towards the back.



Anywho, point being... both are the extreme ends of their musicl genre. Rap being the extreme of R&B, Death metal being the extreme of 'Soft Rock'... each definately has it's ups and downs, it's good and bad apples. Just seems to be more of the bad examples coming from the Rappers though.
