I have a 1996 Civic EX and it has a slow oil leak from somewhere around where the tranny and engine meet slightly off center towards the passenger side of the car. Are there any rear main seals or something like that, that would leak as I have described?

Yes, don't forget that oil will travel to the lowest point so check around, but it sounds like it may be your rear main. Have you noticed any clutch slippage?

Well I don't have a manual transmission, so is there still a clutch in an auto? Also, I do notice that from going from 3rd to 4th, the rpm's will decrease, then a few seconds later it actually shifts, sometimes harder than others, maybe that's what you're talking about?

Probably because I have looked and obviously haven't found the source... the reason for this post is not for me to have you tell me what to do -- the reason for this post is to ask and see what's around the transmission area.

hey calm down, superblue is an awsome source of information, there are not many places for it to come from really, but its one of those things that may be hard to see

Well if the oil is not comming from a higher area, like the dizzy, then it would most likley be your rear main.
