98 contour keeps stalling

I have a 98 Contour that tends to stall when you are pressing on the brake, or just while you are driving. Pretty scary when you are on the interstate!
Would anybody have any idea what would cause this??
I have had the head gasket replaced, new water pump, timing belt, thermastat, & temp sensor all replace.

had a similar problem the only thing you did not replace was the fuel pump, ford has changed the pump because of a problem with the lines ,it seems sometimes as the get older they allow air to get inside and that causes it to stall or feel like your running out of gas.

Mechanic tells me..that's not it, let me drive it another week to see....should I just take it to somebody else? Oldest son is coming home on leave next week, I'd like to have a working car by then..chances are looking pretty slim with this guy tho.

a second opinion is always good , ive found that some techs can find and are aware of these problems others wont take the time because to remove the older model fuel pump and replace with a new one,a special tool is required and can cost somewhere around a $100.

It's possible he may have gotten the timing off a tooth, that would be causing your stalling.

Ok, I will mention that to him today.
it doesn't stall contantly...just when you least expect it. It will stall acouple of times in 2-3 days, then it won't do it agaqin for a month or so.

ahh, then that will rule it out. If the timing was off it would stall as soon as you stop and try to Idle the motor.
