Difference between oil filters?

I saw this post before and I can't remember where, I tried searching but still came up with everything but the right one. I remember seeing that Fram filters were really bad because of the paper-like? quality inside them, and they would shred off and get in the oil and what-not, and I also remember that filters like Bosch were better....anybody know what im talking about or what post I saw that from?:screwy:

I use ACDelco, Wix and when I'm on a poverty budget Purolator (which is a good filter for the price).

i too did a brief search and couldnt find anything, i know exactly what youre talking about too....

did you search the performance/problem diagnosis/non performance threads???

There have been a number of those online filter studies.One was for Mopar style filters,another one was for an import car type.Some are still up.I guess type in "Filter Survey" or study in your search engine.I guess the K&N and MOBIL1 rated best in one of the studies.WIX isnt a bad filter either.As for the others,sometimes its a matter of preference.Champion Labs makes AC,K&N,MOBIL1 and others.They even make the $1.00 home brand jobs.A filter for every budget I guess.
