96 gp se stiff shifter

96 se 3.1 automatic 190,000 miles. the column shifter became noticably harder to move from park and back suddenly yesterday. works ok, just a lot of effort required to move it. is it something i should be worried about?

Is your tilt wheel a little loose too? If so, you need to get your column tightened back up, as the linkage is binding. If not, then you may need to lubricate the shifter cable.

thanks for the responce. the tilt steering seems fine and i tried moving the tilt to different positions to see if it had any effect. i also checked the motor mounts. I'll try lubing the cable when i get back from this road trip. 3 more days and about 1800 miles to go. hope it holds out.
