there are many different sizes in throttle body's for the grand ams here are the four ive found, what is the performance difference between them? And which one is going to give you the best performance on a 2.4L twin cam?

Well stock I believe you hav the 56 or the 59mm.
So to get gains, the 62 or 63mm would be best.

thiers little performance differance between them, unless you hav other mods, such as a CAI or performance Exhaust, underdrive pully maybe too, :dunno:

ok , why do they market them than if a gand am comes stock with a 56mm or 59mm and they say you gain horse because its bored out, to what? i understand ported and polished smoother flow, what would be better to go with whats the largest to get and the best performance one 62mm is what im looking at, i have a WAI looking into CAI , but im also looking at a turbo in the future year or two so dont need to spend the money because ill end up having to change it and buy a new one, piping at least...

OK! Ya know, I really dont know what size the 2.4 twin cam has...... Probly 56mm or smaller though.

Bigger is better, 62, 63, f**k-it 70mm
It never hurts to hav extra CAI piping for future use, or you can sell it on Ebay to recap some of the loose.

GET a bigger exhaust too, Borla or the SLP is kick ass!:evillol:
For every bit of air that comes in, just as much must comes out.
So with just the big TB and CAI, a Funnel effect is created >--
With the optimal flow >===< = :)

If you're planning on getting a turb, I wouldnt get headers, the turbo kits come with a special header to run the turbo.
You'll definatly knotice a Big differance in your car with a turbo :grinyes: :evillol: :D

Well i would hope considering they say it can gain as much as 80hp damn if i pay 4000$+ i better notice a difference , have a 2.4l that pushes upwards of 230hp thats insane ive driven a GXP with a 5.3L V8 303 HP it has the pick up and go, its nice feeling when you get pushed back in the seat, lik the GA GT's i love it but the 2.4L not as much and it saddens me sometimes, for a car that ways 3000+ a 2.4L just atebig enough for that car, if your one for good gas mileage and arent into the speed 2.4L is for you for sure, but unfortunatley when you buy a used car in a small town, the dont let you choose the options you want. But i like my car and its a good start i like the 4 Cylinders to start with you appreciate the thought and planning and work you put into to get it up into the 200+ hp whereas with a V6 you can bolt a couple mods here and there and your good. Its prefrence if i could afford a V8 GXP id be driing it or an AUDI RS 4 same thing.

Thanks for the info...

Sorta how my situation was, its not that I couldnt of gotten a better car is just that I got stuck with it.... Id LIKE to be driving a Trans AM but... cost more money lol... all used imports were at least 1-3 thousand more than domestic.

As for the throttle body, only way I explain it to my friends  is to think of a straw ... :naughty:
A little pos coffee straw as your stock .. suck and its hard.. Hardly any air flow .... use a bigger straw and theres alot more air flow...

reguardless of the stock being ported and polished, you'd be better off buying the bigger sized TB, THEN getting that maybe ported and polished :grinyes:

I hav only owned 1 4cyl and it was a 90 GA, 2.4 DOHC.
POS it was, but it was basicly free, need some work, fixed it up and sold it asap

YA those GPs with 5.7L is a joke too. So much wheel torque, you can hardly hold it on the road when stomp the throtle. If I wanted a V8 I'd just buy a V8 TA or Firechicken or new GTO.

Power too wieght ratios on several cars is poor. Makes no sense puting a small motor(4 cyl) in a big car.

Good explanation GIR !
