Flowmaster vs. magnaflow

Hey guys, Ive read all the forums about flowmasters and magnaflows and im still not sure what to get. I know flowmasters have deeper tones and such and magnaflow is for performance and gives a couple extra horses. Im still not sure. I think I want performance and fuel ecconomy but still have a wicked sound. Please give me your opinions.

id go for sound personally, i went with flowmaster on my vw, which isnt in the same category as el camino's but i was in the same situation as you are now and i liked the sound. i doubt you'll notice the extra couple hp the muffler puts out, but you'll definetely notice a bad sounding muffler.
Good sound = possibly no gain in hp
not so good sound = a few unnoticable hp
Good sound = possibly no gain in hp

i got flowmasters on my 69, and im very happy with the results, once you get a cam on there it sounds niiiice. You just have to concider, ther few extra horses you gain from the magnaflows probably isnt noticable, but the sound is.

correct, put a new cam in. Cams are relatively cheap to have installed, and well worth the money.

flowmasters have a deeper drone/growl when idling,, but @ WOT the magnaflows are gonna be louder and more agressive sounding. if you're just putting a muffler on and not a cat-back then the hp gains (if any) are pretty much pointless anyways imo. but an aftermarket cam will def make it sound meaner. i'm hopin to get one for my car during the summer some time.
