Where is my EEC test plug? I'm looking all over for the same plug I've seen on my other Fords, Exploder, Bronco. I have a small box that has Diagnosis on the cover. This is on the driver side, in the corner of the fire wall and fender. My handy little tester don't hook up to this box. Do I have a plug like the one on my Exploder? My check engine light has come on in the last week or so. This morning on the way to work it went out and I'm sure I felt a slight change in the engine. It came back on when I slowed down.

Sounds like you have an incompatible tester. What you described is the correct location. Your Explorer uses a different system.
There is a way to jumper the connection with a wire so that you can retrieve the code through a blinking light on the dash. I would think if you Google "EEC jumper wire" or something of the sort you will find good info on how to do this.

Thanks for the reply. The plug I see in all the EEC-IV test procedures is the same as my 91 Explorer and the same as my tester. I don't even need to use the tester with all I have read but I still need to find the plug to jumper it and read the dash light. Any other thoughts? Anybody?

Oh... if I understand correctly, you have found the large plug with several pins but not the small one wire plug? They should be located in the same place and on the same harness... so just follow the harness back a little bit til you find both plugs.
