When even i go over bumps in my civic at a lower speed i always hear like clanking or like metal tinging together. Im not sure what it could be. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Location of this? In the springs, muffler, etc? Details please.

I think it might have something to do with the suspension but i only hear it when i drive so there is no way for me to totally know whewre it is. I am getting new struts and springs put on to see if that helps, but I think i found it the other day.
I accidently hit a little metal peice on the back of the brake caliper and it madee the exact same sound I hear. So I am thinking it has something to do with the brake pads.
I took a picture of it.

Sounds more like a heat shield rattling. I just started having it with my car in the past 2-3 months. Is it really loud or quiet enough where you can't hear it when you're playing music in your car?

hey i have experienced the heat sheild also the sheild behind the rotor and also ball joints and bushings could be your problem. my car makes a grinding noise when ever the wheel moves

CIVICLX93, does the noise come when you turn? If so, it's your CV joint. Check the boot. If it is cracked, then you have contamination. My muffler makes a clanking sound at certain idle speeds. Somewhere below the hand brake. I think it is a small rock that is sitting on the heat shield. Only a guess though.

check ball joints, brake pads, even rocks get behind the shield on the rotor. Whenever my axle nut came loose i would hear a grinding noise. just check the whole front end for loose nuts etc.

Make sure that your brake pad retaining clips arent broke. I had the same rattle everytime I hit a bump. Honda can get those spring clips for about 10 to 15 each.

to tell you the truth, I think it might be those clips. I accidently hit the back of the caliper when i was lookin at something and it made the same noise as when i drive down the road... your probably right.
where do you get those? Honda dealer?

I get a similar rattle sound from my 95 hatch, but only in the first 10 seconds or so after I start it. When it's just sitting there parked, after i start it. It sounded just like the heat restricter plate on the exhaust manifold so i took it off and it still makes the noise. It even does it if i put it in gear and go right when i start it, but only for like 10 or 15 seconds. Do I need that heat shield on my exhaust manifold? Cause' I didn't put it back on.
