hey, i have a kia sophia and i want to why my car makes a noise and jerks when i turn on the air condition. it always happens. i have no idea what it is. :alien2: if you have an idea tell me.

Sorry to say, that's the sound it makes when the engine has to support the A/C. I'm guessing you don't notice it when you are driving... only when you are idling? If so, that's the case. Nothin' to be done about it - I don't think - but I'm guessing (and I have no clue about cars so this answer could be bogus) - that you can adjust the timing so the car idles at a higher RPM.

Actually - I just found out I'm right. lol
There is an idle motor that kicks on to help w/ the a/c when you are at low RPMs. It gives juice to the a/c and takes the load off the engine. That is what you're feeling click on.
However, depending on the mileage you may need to have your idle motor cleaned (every 30k or something).

I've never heard of such a thing like a idle motor, the sound you are experiencing might be the a/c compressor going bad or the idle screw that needs to be adjusted...
