weird blinking lights

Help please. My battery was dead in my '98 caravan so I had to jump start it. Ever since then my rear wiper, AC and recuirculate light blink. It's a constant blinking and in rythem. Everything works it's just I can't tell when it's on. The defrosters works, however the light will not come on. Is there a breaker that needs to be reset or a certain starting procedure for the computer to relearn? There is not anything in my manual about this. Thank you for the help.

When you have a dead battery, it screws up the calibration of the A/C control system. (For some reason, disconnecting the battery usually does not cause the problem, but a low or dead battery does.)
In order to recalibrate, this is the process for a 1998:

CALIBRATION/DIAGNOSTICS TEST ENTRY
TO INITIATE TESTS:

* Set Blower motor ON HIGH
* Set Mode position to Panel
* Open all A/C outlets
* Set Temperature to Cold (Both slide pots if equipped)
* Depress WASH and REAR WIPER button simultaneously for 5 Seconds (Until all LED's light)

RESULTS:

* All LED's will turn on for 5 Seconds
* Calibration Test is running when REAR WIPER and INTERMITTENT are alternately flashing. Cool-down test is running if A/C and RECIRC are alternately flashing.
* Acceptable result is REAR WIPER LED is the only LED flashing. Push Rear Wiper to exit.

That should do it. If not, post again and we will try to help.

Also. I believe the calibration should be done with the engine running. The manual doesn't say that, but since the calibration involves things that can only work with the A/C going, I'm pretty sure that you have to do it with the engine running.

That did the trick. I don't know how to thank you.

I just experienced the exact same thing today with my 98 Caravan. The battery, apparently the factory original, crapped out. I needed a jump start to get me home. Those weird lights were blinking all the way. I removed the battery and replaced with a new one. I thought that would be it, but spent until after dark trying to figure out why those lights on the ac/recirc/rear wiper and rear wiper delay were all still blinking. I finally decided to visit this site which has helped several times before. I was relieved to see this post and the instructions for the fix. I think I'll go outside and see if I can make it work for me too. I appreciate this help very much! Thanks

I just got back inside after doing the calibration/diagnostic thing. It seemed to work, but I now have the a/c and recirc light flashing simultainiously. I came back inside to print off the instructions and will go back out and try again. Past my bed time by a long shot, but I am anxious to see if I can get resolution tonight.

Well, well, well, I did it. Knowledge is POWER and I have it tonight! It is 11:00 pm and I don't care if I have to get up at "dark thirty" in the morning. At least I can drive to work without a light show taking me back to the disco days. Thanks jagplates and thank you grandse for posting your note which provided me with some resolution to this meanacing problem.
