I'm looking at purchasing a 2000 Mustang GT coupe (http://staatsburgmotors.com/cars.htm) (its price is 10,995 its like 3/4s of the way down the page) and I was wondering if A)ANybody could carfaqs it and see if theres any problems and B)Did the GT come with a LSD or some kind in 2000? I'm interested in turning the Mustang into a drift car, and if it already has an LSD, that'd save me about 500 bucks.

LSD?
Also 10,995 is a little high above fair market value.

Limited Slip Differential.
And 10995 is high, but it also comes with another set of rims and tires, the entire original exhaust, HID headlights, $600 racing seats and a front sway bar
Considering that it was originally 12995 with 45k miles, I can live with 11k for it

"THAT MOVIE WAS TOTALLY AWESOME, I SAW IT LIKE FIVE TIMES ALREADY WITH ALL THE CARS GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES AND ALL THE WHITE AND BLACK PEOPLE IN JAPAN. THAT SHIT WAS DOPE.
I WENT OUT THE NEXT DAY AND BOUGHT ME A USED MERKUR X4TI FROM A JUNK YARD. I DID THE HOOKUP ON IT."
He had brought in a Merkur X4TI that he said he bought and fixed up over the weekend.
Durabrand Stero with Roadmaster Sound System
Put on a coat of gray primer without any sanding or stripping
Used 3M tape to put on a APC Spoiler Wing
Seat covers that has a Jesse James logo on them.
Honda Civic Exhaust tips that had been bolted on with U-Bolts (the exhaust was rusted out before the mufflers)
A complete set of lights and stickersHe had went to the DM store next door and purchased a turbo kit for a 2.3 Mustang and told us he wanted to turn his car into a hardcore drifiter because he wants to start drifting now.

Actually I've been following Formula D for the past 2 years and I've been particularly fond of Ken Gushi and his Mustang. Since I can't afford a new Mustang though, and I had already purchased one anyway, I was hoping to set it up as maybe a weekend drifter that could still function in some capacity or another as a daily driver. Has a cat back exhaust, high flow cats, front sway bar, aftermarket rims and I just had some Pirelli's wrapped around them. And by the way, it still has real paint, I don't plan to put goofy ass stickers and lights all over it, I certainly wouldn't put anything from a Honda anywhere near it, and I'm kind of proud of the Sony Xplodes I put in it.

You know if you're serious about getting a differential slip ebay carries some nice aftermarket rebuilds for under 200.

im really not sure how you could setup a mustang to drift better, all the aftermarket suspension companies sell parts to make the car launch harder/better in a straight line or take corners better.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll try and figure something out. I'm sure that a stock GT could still kick some little ricer's ass :iceslolan Another question for you, if any of you still have the owners manual (mine didn't come with one), what is the light all the way to the right on the bottom of the gauges where the Service Engine Soon light is? It looks kind of like a resvoir but with an X in it. Any ideas?
Also, there seems to be some kind of fluid coming of the exhaust where the headers meet up with the rest of the exhaust. I haven't smelt it yet, but any thoughts?
Thanks

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll try and figure something out. I'm sure that a stock GT could still kick some little ricer's ass In a street race you will be hardpressed to beat ricer in a stock GT and impossible to beat the a ricer in drifting. They tend to use Nissian S cars and Supra's which are specifically geared towards drifting.

Exactly right, because nobody around here has a Supra or anything. They all run Probes and Civics. Theres 1 nice car around here that belongs to a kid my age, and it's a 350Z, so I wouldn't even bother competing against him.
You are probably leaking coolant and if you are then I would be pretty pissed if somebody sold/trying to sell me this car.
I would think coolant, but the levels seem to be where they should be and I have no idea on markings or measurements to judge by. The temp. gauge puts me just a touch over the middle, maybe 1/16 to 1/8 past it. Should I take pictures of where it is at the end of a drive? The curious thing about the light though is that it's not consistantly on, it comes on occasionally, but it's not on the next time I start it.
Valve cover leak running down the headers?
You mean like oil? It seems to be kind of like watery, I would have suspected coolant, but I don't see how or why it'd be coming down/out of the headers. Either way after I run it tomorrow, I'll park it in the garage and see what it looks like the fluid is.
I suppose that a reputable shop would be able to sort it out for me? NYS lemon laws say that the dealership I bought it from would be required to either fix it, or reimburse me. I'd take it to the dealership to do it, but it's a used car dealership and I have a feeling that they'd just shaft me about it and say they couldn't find anything.

If its coming out of the headers you should have an exhaust leak. Do you have an exhaust leak? I wouldnt think so but you never know.

Dropped by my shop about it, mechanic took a quick look at it. Said that it seemed to him that it was condensation from the AC. The valve that keeps the condensation out of the interior of the Mustang, is right over the passenger side of the header in the GT. Which would explain a lot.
Still not sure about that light that comes on, I'll have to get some kind of manual or repair guide this weekend for it.

Yes but it is condensation, and comes out the tail pipes.

yeah i guess it would be a little hot for the water to turn back to liquid by the headers. ac sounds like a good reason to me.
