What's up people. I'm new here and need a little bit of help. I'm thinking of buying a new car in the $15k-$20k range but don't know which one. I'm thinking of either getting the Scion xB, Honda Fit, or the Toyota Yaris. Which ones do you guys recommend? I'm thinking of putting in another $5k in the car for upgrades. Thanks.

That's a Yaris? Nice. But that's gonna be over my budget tho. That's gotta be at least another $10k right there.

No offense, but if you are planning on putting $5k into "modding" it, shouldn't you just get a nicer/better car with it instead?

Just a thought.

Yea, why won't you spend $25 to get a nice used BMW E46 3-series, or an Infiniti? Please god don't turn into one of them Fa$T AnD FuR10Us Y0 guys...

BUt if anything, get a Honda Fit. It's the best out of all of those choices.

I would A) never get any of those
and B) not waste money modding any of those

Out of curiosity, what attracts you to those cars, I mean the 3 have relatively similar bodies, is that the kind of thing you are looking for? Basically how did you come up with those 3 choices, with 15-25k, you have alot of options if you consider slightly used cars as well.

More like 30 or more.

Come on, i thought you people knew something about cars...well, i guess this is finace.

First, he never said he has 5k immediately to put into it. 15-20 as it is varies on payment plans and validation. Common sense older folk, a 20k car is a heck of alot different then 25k ranging from 200 - 400 a month. Seriosuly.

Maybe he doesn't want used.

Yes, the bodies are the same, so, common sense would be that is what he likes. I did. I love hatchbacks, so here, Mazda 3 rules! Think about it. What sucks though, finding a basic one under 20 is hard. I tried. about 90% of them are 20k+ unles syou have one built then you gotta wait like 3-5 months i think is what he said.

That was my plan. A recent car searcher, i wanted 10-15. well, for 15, payments were too high. so i went 5 - 10 which i found something for 8 and i knew over time id add some stuff. Well, being an SUV, no perfromance (cept maybe a supercharger) but other stuff. Doesnt mean i have 5k one me to go on a spree.

Idk...im just in that kinda of mood were lack of sense bothers me. sorry

20k + 5k = Subaru WRX TR.....

That's a good baseline for further modding, especially when you're starting at around 170whp as opposed to 170 at the flywheel.

Honda Civic, Acura RSX, or a VW GTI. In my opinion these are the best cars you can get under $25,000.

RSX's suck! Their prices are way too high new for what you get.

I dont mean suck as ina bad car, but price wise, yeesh!

Get the Yaris, since you don't get the Renault Clio, 2005 Suzuki Swift, Peugeot 207 or Fiat Grande Punto over there it is the only good small car at your disposal

DOn't take his advice, he's an old hag and drives like one, almost like Captain Slow in top gear, so of course he'll go for the boring Yaris :p

Honestly, I think the Fit is more exciting than the Yaris. I found the Yaris to be a bit boring. Also I believe the Fit handles a little bit better than the Yaris. In addition, also found that the Fit was slightly better equipped.

BUt both will get you from A to B economically with virtually bulletproof reliability, and practicality.

The Fit (Or Jazz as we call it) handles and rides like crap. Torsion beam suspension has never been a Honda strong point. The Yaris on the other hand is quite a nice little thing to drive.
