Just thought I'd let you guys know about the shi**y day I had. I went to go pick up my Bird at the shop (got the new engine put in), and everything went to hell. First of all, instead of the dual exhaust that I wanted, the a**hole put a damn fart can on my car. Then, when I was driving it down to his "exhaust guy"'s shop to see about getting it removed, the car kept cutting off. It was also then that I noticed a 6 inch crack going up my windshield. So when I got to the exhaust guy's shop, I called my mechanic and told him about the crack, and he acted like I was lying, and suggested it was already there. Well, the exhaust guy said he wouldn't charge me to put the discussed dual exhaust on the car (damn right he better not charge me), so I went to go back to my mechanic. Once again, the car kept shutting off, and the engine really sounded like shit! And once I got there, the crack was halfway up my windshield - almost 2 feet long now! So I ge there, and this prick is like, "whatever, yeah, sure, we did it, sure...we've dealt with ppl like you before..." And I'm like, "Look, I live and work 45 miles away from this place, and I only brought my car here because I trusted you! I have a freakin Firestone card and could have had the work done a hell of a lot closer to home, but I wanted to give you the business. AND YOU ACCUSE ME OF LYING ABOUT A 100 DOLLAR WINDSHIELD WHEN IM PAYING YOU THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS TO INSTALL MY 2000 DOLLAR ENGINE?!?!?!?
So then, I go outside to see if they put the new power steering pump in, and when I look the the top of the trunk, there is a HUGE grind all the way across the top edge of it! This thing is about 1.5 - 2 feet long, and an inch wide! Then, some asshole tried to spraypaint over it! It is so damn obvious where they put masking tape on, then painted it, then pulled the tape off! It looks like a piece of electric tape across the top edge of my trunk! WTF?!? Then this a**hole said that it was already there! He, once again, was like, "My guys would never do anything like that, and they know that there's no retribution as long as they tell us what happens in the event of an accident!" That's fine, but they sent it down the street to have the exhaust work done! HOW IN THE F@CK CAN HE SAY THAT IT DIDNT HAPPEN DOWN THERE?!? I AM SO EFFING PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW. HOW IN THE HELL CAN HE SAY THIS SH1T?

sorry guys, had to vent with some ppl who might understand. I'm going to try to get some sleep now. shit, I have been without my car for 2.5 months now - today was supposed to be so damn good!

Thanks, guys. Well, I should let you all know that the mechanic called me back today and apologized - and it seemed pretty sincere. I can't say that I completely accepted it, but I told him that I appreciated him calling. He said that 2 of his techs insisted that the strip of black paint over the gash was new, and since my car had been there for 2 months, that there was no way that it was like that when I brought it to them. I was pretty impressed by the fact that those 2 guys went to bat for me like that - I don't even know them. Anyhow, it turns out that the muffler f@ck did it when it was at his shop. Apparently, one of his techs shut the gate down on it at the end of the night, and tried to cover it up by spraying paint on it - DIPSHIT! lol, anyhow, it got back to the president of the company in Las Vegas about what had happened, and I am told that he is very, very embarassed about what happened. I told my mechanic to tell the owner to tell the president that if he wanted to make things right, he can give me whatever discount he feels is necessary. If he takes off half - cool. If he takes off 5 bucks - oh well. I don't really care, I just like knowing that my mechanic knows that I was right, and he was wrong. That alone made my day. And the fact that he called to admit it helped out. In fact, it's the only thing keeping me from doing just what tjack63 said about going on an internet smear campaign regarding that whole shop!
Anyhow, the car is still there - I'm picking it up on Monday. I'll let you all know what happens in the end.
Much better day today - toward the end of it anyways...
:screwy:

Hey man most shops would make it right fix it like its supossed to be, When I worked a Ford dealer man I saw a lot happen to cars I mean shops are rough places, but as long as they stand up to get everything right you can't be upset with them, but that sucks dude. Oh but do remember that a lot of people try to do rip offs by saying the shop messed their car up.

your a better man than i. if i were u, first of all i wouldve had to been bailed out of jail. then i wouldve contacted a lawyer. just imagine how much how much that guy who called u up wouldve been kissing your a** if he and the president of the company got a call from your attorney....
