Bios question, agp setting

I currently have an ECS KT600-A with an Athlon XP2600. When I go into bios I can only change the agp settings for 1x, 2x, or 4x. It won't let me go to 8x. I know the board supports it, but can't figure out why I can't change it. Anyone heard of this or know the solution. Thanks

Does the card support it? What video card have you got?

How do you know the board supports it? Do you have the latest firmware for the motherboard?

You might have to flash the BIOS and upgrade.

its most likelly that the card you have its only agp4x capable.
And anyway unless you have the absolute latest top end agp videocard even at 4x its unlikelly that you are experiencing any performance drop since the agp and now pci express busses have never been a botleneck by always staying many steps ahead in bandwith over what the cards require. (eg. we have 16X PCI-E even though modern cards run perfectly fine at 8X).

I currently have a 4x as my 8x went out. But when I did have the 8x installed I had the most current update and it still would only run at 4x. Maybe it's time to start over.
