I know that the actual number of GTR tuners here is limited for now, but this site seems to get the most traffic.
As most of you know, my R32 is undergoing extreme changes under the hood. My question is, I know we will have gearbox problems (600-700 RWHP). We have chosen to go with the HKS unsprung Triple Disk clutch to hold the power, will a CF Driveshaft take the abuse? and possible extend the life of the gearbox? I am only looking for 10-15 passes on the stock gearbox before swapping, and if I can make it last that long, I would be a little more than happy.

I can't answer the drive shaft question, but I have a question for you. How did you get the car into the states? What forms need to be filled out? What turbo are you using, i beleive you metioned your using a single?
That's going to be one fast GTR, how much money is this whole project costing? If you are pumping out that much power you should see 9s if everything is set up right. I feel sorry for the poor tranny.

Yeah, I feel sorry for the tranny too....
We are going with pretty much the biggest single turbo that HKS offers, the T51 KAI, for now. We had planned on the SPL, but this turbo is so big, we will need to dump about 150 shot of nitrous to spool. When we have the bottom end built, and a HKS stage 2 head, we will upgrade to that turbo.
As far as getting the car into the states, one of the focuses of my company is importation of race cars to the US. It is not a extremely hard process, but doing it right the first time is very important. It took us approximately 8 months to get the car to US soil. EPA is typically the problem, so knowing what they are looking for prior to submitting the proper paperwork is essential.
9's would be nice, but I am thinking that low 10's will garner us enough attention. 9's and possibly faster will come hopefully when we sport a bulletproof bottom end and valvetrain to match.
Money - well, lets just say that racing is not cheap.....

ShooterBoy , that's serious shit you are building there. Hope it doesn't hit the fan:D
Sorry, can't help u with the CF driveshaft. Whatever u do, the stock tranny will sure take a one way ticket to Junk Town with that kind of power.

Shooter Boy, could you import my GT-R I currently own overseas? If so, how much would you charge? Would I be able to register it for road use or would the car be limited for race use only? Do you have a homepage? :flash:

Hud,
The cars are brought in for race use only. We currently do not have the facilities or the $$ to crash test them for road use. They cannot be titled for road use. Sorry.
Motorex is a good company, and recommend you call them for registering your GTR.

Shooter Boy, how much did it cost to have the vehicle shipped to the States? Sounds like an awesome project. I wish you luck. (sorry for not answering the driveshaft question)
Oh yeah, I heard about some company that makes sequential 6-speeds for Skylines. I think it's called Hollinger, but you probably already looked into that.

Yes, we have checked on the dogboxes. They are a good tranny, however, it puts us into a class of racing that we do not yet want to be in. We are looking probably towards the end of next summer for that upgrade. We have also looked at 5/6 spd replacement gearboxes. The Hollinger cost typically at a minimum $12,000 USD, in the land downunder, and more here in the US.
Shipping to the US by Ocean Freight, not including Customs Importation Taxes was about $3,000 USD. Then you have to pay port charges, taxes etc on the purchase price of the vehicle.

hello
Ok the Carbon Fiber Drive shaft is very $$$$$ and if your going to do all of this serious work you will need to talk to Tomei because they have a Hollander sequential 6 speed tranny for the GTR who are pushing more than 500ps "ps is the term for hp in Japan" but with the 600+hp your claming on this you will need to talk to a couple of owners on this and see what comments they have to say on this but , from what I here is the first area to get problems is the transfer case in the and the Front diff housing ,
Also here are some good temporary reminds
1) Mobil 1 syntactic Gear Box oil THICK? Duno the Weigh ratio
2) Replace all the U~joints and all the bushing with urethane as much as possible.
3) Don’t do red line burn out from a standing stop.

I've seen ads out here for the HKS Super SEQ-6 for around 1.15 million Yen (just under 10g's) but I don't know what kind of power it'll hold. I imagine as it's HKS it's probably built pretty well.......

I know a guy over here who owns a 32 running at 620ps with 2530s,HKS 2.7 stroker kit and the Super Seq 6. He drags every weekend. So far so good! And it has been more than a year.

R33, what tranny upgrades are you running? Had any trouble with all the new power you're making?

FRom what I read and heard, the 33 stock tranny is very hardy and can hold up to 650-700 hp! It is even better than the Getrac 6 speeder in the 34. So far the stock tranny is okay and there is no sign of it taking leave just yet! I am keeping my fingers crossed.
