I have the 87 305 with the 4bbl Rochester on it now, and Im wondering.
If I go to a junkyard, and take a TBI off a 89/90 caprice, or whatever year had a TBI 305.
Will I need just the TBI, and its computer, and what else to convert my 4bbl over to TBI.
Would there be any gain in power?

Another option to explore would be aftermarket carb to EFI conversion kits. It looks like they offer both multiport injection and throttle body injection. If you wanted to go the cheaper route using parts from the junk yard, I can't think of any reason you cannot use the applicable parts. From my reading, a lot of the parts needed by TBI are already on your computer controlled carb (sensors and such).

I looked into some Holley TBI kits, and there running way too much money for me.
The junkyard route is really the only way for me with my money :frown:
So, to convert my 4bbl over to TBi, I need
1: The TBI
2:Manifold
3:all new gaskets and such
4:The computer
Any new sensors? Anyone here ever converted over to EFI?

Your fuel system from the tank forward, and an electric fuel pump needed as well.

Mind listing all the parts for me, lol. Im not very familiar with all the componets of EFI
So, If i get everything I need, it should just be a easy swap, or do I need to install knock and o2 sensors? What about the sensors I have now what do I do with them?

first of all, you already have knock sensors ond O2 sensors. if you go to nonspecific chevy, there will be a post started by me that has some good responses about this topic. its called 350 efi or something like that. the reason i want to do the swap is to even out my mixture, get better mileage, better power, and better response from the engine.

I see, thanks.
But a parts list of the componets would stil bel appreciated :) (if anyone knows them all)

Thanks, that was a good deal of info I needed to know.
What im thinking im going to do is, take all the componets I need off a TBI caprice, and get the wiring from Painless wiring, cause wiring is someting Im not to good at, but if I get a kit it should be easy just run them and plug it in right.
Once I get the TBI on and wired up and running, is there any special tuning if I take it off a LO3 5.0?
Does it have to be from my B-body style caprice, or will the ECM from a 91-96 caprice work?
