I just changed the plugs in my 97 blazer 4x4 4.3L. After a realy long painful time I got them out. All the plugs are equaly fouled up the same with carbon. Lots and lots of carbon. I was told this is due to running to rich. I have little experiance with this type of problem. Any ideas on what I can do to level this out? I searched and found a thead about a nut kit. What is a nut kit and what does it do?

Was the carbon black or white?
What brand of plugs are you using.
97 W engine does not use the nut kit set up.
Fuel lines go in the top. The older type with the fuel lines going into the rear use the nut an fuel line kit to get the fuel in and out of the plamtuim or injector unit.
Any black smoke or check engine lights? Is the engine running good?

Ac delco plugs. Black smoke only on heavy accel. engine runs good now. It started running real rough at idel but it great now the plugs are new. This is a rebuilt engine maybe 35000 k Carbon was white

Some White carbon is normal
Give it a little time and see if black smoke on accel clears up.
If not you may need to check things over.
Good luck

Some is normal but what about a lot. I wish I had picutres. If the smoke doesnt go away what things should I start to check out. Internal engine parts or sensors type things?

If it keeps on putting out black smoke look at fuel pressure and pcm/vcm controls and sensors.
One thing to look at is the fuel trim readings on a scanner.
If it is very bad it should be setting a code someplace.
let us know how it goes.

Has any other tuneup item been replaced?

PCV valve?
Air filter?
Cap and Rotor?
MAF Cleaning?

Also, how many miles on the engine?

Has the ignition switch ever been replaced?

Ok, the eninge was rebuilt 35,000kms ago, but what about the O2 sensors, how many miles on them?

Could have been a bad batch of gas.

I suggest running a full bottle of Redline SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner in your next tank of gas.

It is supported by BMW, Chev, Toyaota and Honda and it is one of the best Fuel Injection cleaners on the market.

I am using it right now and what a difference.

Yea must have been. I used a injector cleaner about 1000km ago now. Cant think what brand I used. It was in a purple bottle. Engine runs way smoother and no smoke. :)
