This is one that I started about 18 months ago and had to put aside when I ripped the Repsol decals on 1 of the side cowlings. It is straight out of the box with only a little bit of SMS Carbon decal. I finally got around to getting another kit for the decals - I picked it up from Hong Kong (thanks Cal Model) as it was easier than getting the decals out of Toy Traders here in Australia, so I will finally be able to finish it.

I'm still waiting for HLJ to send me the special edtion version of this kit. Anyhow, did you strip the kit chrome off the frame, or leave it as is? It's hard to tell with these bike kits, as the kit chrome from Tamiya is actually very good..

Liked how you put the colour dots on the front brakes.. Is that a decal, or did you hand paint them?

You're a bike building factory at the moment.. :)

I actually had to strip it and repaint it as both parts of the frame had scratches on them. I used some chrome paint that I found at the local truck spares for touching up rims and bumpers - actually more like a polished Aluminium which was ideal.
All detail is painted on this one.
Not really a factory - I held off posting the Ducati while you were doing yours and I had most of the Kawasaki done. This one is as I said nearly 18 months old and stored in my hobby drawers until I got some more decals.

What was the Special Edition of this kit? I don't think I have seen that one.
Cheers

Well, I have just started 2 weeks holidays and have been able to do some more. I got the exhausts painted today and installed. Tried to match up to a picture I found on the net and they didn't come up too bad.

Still have to finish off the clamps on the hoses yet.

Installed the carbon decals as supplied in the kit as well to the mufflers.

Enjoy your holiday's! I just finished mine and had a list of chores as long as my arm to complete before I could get into my "rapidly increasing" pile of kits!!

That looks very nice, great detail you put in.
Just a question, ill be starting the '99 repsol honda soon and wondered do the decals cover the orange and blue without showing through? Or do you have to mask areas off?
Thanks

I masked this one off and From the nightmare experience I had on my 98 (First ever bike) and just looking at it now you will definitely be better off if you can mask the areas off for the simple reason, that if you happen to tear one of the decals then it is not so noticeable if the base colour is the same. I personally struggled with the decals on the 98 as they were quite thick and wouldnt lay down properly, and when I tried to move them into place I tore them - THAT SAID, I have seen many 98/99 Hondas here and on other sites that are works of art and the decals are immaculate.
From previous posts I have seen of your models I have no doubt that you will have no problems at all. I look forward to seeing a progress thread.
Cheers

Painted the handlebars and put some flocking around the reservoir caps to simulate the grip that the teams put on them to stop them being so slippery.
