I'm pretty sure that Fairlady was the original Japanese designation, and it was called the 240 when it was sold on the US market. Datsun and Nissan are of course the same company. So, no difference. From what I understand, the Hasegawa kit is excellent.

There is not much of a difference between the two Z's other than the Fairlady was marketed in Japan only. The name Fairlady was carried over from the series of roadsters produced in the 1960's. The name stuck, so now, all of the Japanese marketed Z's to date carry that name. :grinno: But if you are refering to the Datsun 240K, It is a Skyline body (C110/210/211) with a 2400 cc motor (L24) for the overseas market.

As MPWR has stated, Datsun was the original name that the cars were marketed under changing to Nissan I believe in the latter half of the '70s.
But, when you say 240, do you mean 240Z or 240K as they are different bodies. The 240Z has the pointy nose whereas the 240k came as both a 2 door and 4 door car with a flat nose. The rear is also different however the easy way is the nose.

i beleive they still call the 350Z ''fairlady" in japan. its kinda like the acura RSX in north america compared to the honda integra in japan. there basically the same car, just distinguished differently:grinyes: !

Umm, fellows, there IS a major difference between the Japanese market Fairlady 240ZG and the American market Datsun 240Z.
The JDM 'Z was outfitted with long-nose bodywork that easily distinguished it from the short-nose of the American market 240Z and the JDM market homologation special Z432R.

Actually, it's just the "G" designation that has the long nose and fender flares. There are other JDM Z's (The "L" for example) that had the same nose as ours.
There's 2 pics side by side of a USDM and JDM in that wikipedia link above that shows it.

Here is a list of 240/260Z kits. At a glance it does not seem complete as it is missing the Tamiya kits.

They're in there, in the 1/12 section. Tamiya doesn't make a 1/24 kit of a 240z... to my knowledge anyway.
