Ok this is my Dad's truck, it is a 91 F-150 inline 6 5-speed. We just returned from a week long trip or so and when we got back and he was on his way to work this morning the truck was running really rough (Kind of cutting on and off going down the highway), and now after setting for 9 hours it won't start at all. first thing we did was sprayed some starter fluid in the intake to see if it was a fuel problem or something else. It turned over then but quickly died. Then we thought it could be a fuel pump so to test we took the line off at the filter and turned the key... fuel sprayed out, so not the fuel pump. Does anyone know what else the problem could be? :banghead: :banghead:

Start with checking for good hot blue spark to all spark plugs.
If good spark check for proper fuel pressure up to specs with a fuel pressure gauge.
Post back results.

Well I can't see why the plugs wold be what’s wrong with it b/c it will turn over with starter fluid so there is spark being made. But anyway we towed it over to a shop to have them look at it and once we unhooked it and parked it, we decided to try it once more and wouldn't you know it, started right up no problem and idled away. So it's at the shop to get looked at anyway just in case.

Well heard back from the shop and they think that the EEC relay is messed up somehow. But since it is running and driving for now they are just going to leave it until it messes up again. So they don't have to charge us for replaceing the relay and that not be the problem. Just wanted to update on the situation

On finding things like that is why i said check for spark and fuel .
But you have to catch it in the act or when it does it.
Good Luck
