Splicing wires for wire harness

okay i got a cd player for my car and it had no adapter for my indash harnass so i went out and got a wire harrness for it, now do i just connect each wire coming from the cdplayer to each wire coming from the harrness? And can i just twist them and surrond with electrical tape?
