Just thought that i would let yall know that rsx's don't have 200hp.
I was looking for an exhaust on the magna-flow webite and checked out the dyno specs and it showed the type s had only about 178hp.
You can see for your self at
http://www.magnaflow.com/03cat-acura.htm
then click on the link above the rsx chart that says dyno and ee for your self.
i was going to buy one until i saw this.

I think the 200 hp refers to flywheel hp, a dyno chart would show how much hp is actually going to the wheels...

ya so technically that is how much hp that there is, the other 30hp i lost somewhere between the flywheel and tires.

Yea, its too bad car makers advertise the flywheel hp... would be a lot better if the advertised the actual hp at the wheels...

Ya now i'm looking to buy a spec-v but wondering if it actually has 180hp like advertised.

Yo Oassaf, you dont know much about cars do you! When a company advertises the HP for a car its always at the crank. The RSX is like that, Stangs are like that, Pinto are fuckin like that. Expect a 15% loss in HP goin to the wheels. Your Spec V doesn't have 180 hp either, not at the wheels anyways.

There jackass i knew that, but thanx anyway. Plus i've been looking aroubd some more and decided that i'm just going to the rsx because it is just a better car. After reading reviews in a bunch of dfferent magzines and test driving a spec-v, which to me drove like crap, i've noticed that the spec-v might have the rsx in torque but in everything else it sux, plus and ome new heaeders exhaust and whatnot and there u go.

hey oassf, the spec v doesn't drive like crap....
trust me, i own one, the only thing that's bad about this car is that the gearbox is clunky, i guess it's all about personal opinion

for the record. a large number of SPEC dynos ive seen have been around 143 hp @5600 and 151 ft lbs at 4000
ive seen the dynos for the rsxS to..like 172hp at some wild rpm. with very little torque.. i think honda cheats to get peak numbers.. cus if any ones seen those dynos they jump like 20 ftlbs around the time vtec kicks in.. which means if a rsx can actually get up to speed or downshift fast enough its pretty fast.. where as the torque is nearly constant for the SPEC.. however.. the spec IMO at least is lacking in the revs dept..
i dont know why honda went with the 2.0 approach.. there doesnt seem to be enough bottom end to make it worth the upgrade.. this is also MY OPINION..
btw just incase any one was curious arguments like this reach the other boards.. ;)

what's up everyone....
Just wanted to say that I have a SpecV and my boy has a type s and I think that they both are are about equal in speed. We raced and I beat him, but I have to say that he is still a rookie racer. Then I raced his car against mine and I beat him my about the same as I did in my SpecV.... I think they are pretty close, just kinda depends on teh driver...jsut my 2 cents....so no more hatt'n on Nissan....

You seem to mention that with a set of headers (well last I knew that the RSX has one header not two headers) and exhaust..But the Spec-V's also have availible exhaust and they also have a header...not to mention that they also have a few intakes to choose from as well....
Also did you know that there is a prototyped direct port nitrous system made for the car?
also that there are turbo systems being prototyped as well?
I'm not trying to talk shit or anything and you probaby won't see me responde to this thread in the future but my point here is to research both cars before you actually start talking shit about one or the other...cause all you are doin here is showing us that your uneducated about the Spec-V's.....

I've seen spec v's and rsx's race saw both of them win too, they went back and forth beating each other. I have a spec v and raced an rsx twice and beat him both times.

Look, nothin personal, but uh, the SE-R looks just like a sentra. a 4 door sentra. im not saying its a bad car, its just a sedan. a sentra sedan. now that may be acceptable for some of you, but the only folks ive seen driving sentras are of the older type, say, oh, 70 or so. you know, the type that prefers SEDANS.:apuke: Now, if Nissan made a sentra SE-R COUPE, then great. Till then, RSX all the way.

youve been waiting along time to say that didnt you.. christ i was on notification for this thread.. and i still think itrs stupid..
as far as the sedan vs. 2door. no one really wants a 2900 lbs high revver. pointless unless its boosted.
i think most of us sentra 4 doors owners will keep the sleeper look and keep off americas most wanted :(

Sedan's are nice; what about the Altezza, Impreza, or LanEvo?

:D hella...but as for the discussion, i think they're pretty equal in looks. i don't really like the rsx look all that much, nor do i like the new seR (IMO). overall motor wise, it jus depends wut u want. u want something that will rev forever an u'll be able to pull the hell outta ppl on the freeway (RSX Type S are quick as shit on freeway) then go for the S. u want something that'll pull more off the line an jus have power even throughout then go for the SER.
as for the person who says honda cheats to make power...its not cheating...jus mad nissan didn't come up w/ it first :D j/k

It pretty much comes down to preferences, i agree. I personally dont like sedans as much as hatchbacks or coupes, so i bought a type S. I do think that the Sentra has several advantages, including a stronger power curve in the lower RPM's. I also think that the Skyline-esque front end kicks the shit out of my Acura's (Skyline4Life) and I also agree that the more sedate looks get less attention from The Man.

you were going to buy one until you saw that????? almost every single car for sale doesnt have as much HP as the dealer claims.. b/c they measure the HP at the flywheel... Dynos will show differently.. Dont let that change your mind about getting the car, b/c whatever else your looking at probably doesnt have that much HP either
