97 lesabre ltd edition poor AC

I have a 97 with 55K miles on it and it takes me 5+ miles on the freeway before I can feel the air blowing out like it should. I plan on checking the egr valve but beyond that. I could use some good advice.:screwy: Thank you in advance:smokin:
