Volt light stays on - 95 LSS

Help, my 95 LSS has a volt light that stays on, I just replaced the alternator and battery is also new. The dealer also told me it "might" be the alternator. What else is there to cause the volt light to stay on? I'm thinking of replacing all of the positive battery cables running to the starter, alternator and main fuse block. Help! Any ideas? Thanks

The easy way to check for any fault in your alternator or battery would be to remove them and let an Autozone or O'reily check them.

What about corrosion around your battery terminals? Are they clean?

The engine to frame ground strap may be corroded or broken if the battery, cables and alternator check out. If only I had $1 for every time I heard " I just relplaced ______, that can't be the problem" I could retire.

I know what you're saying, just because all the obvious items are changed doesn't mean they still can't be a problem. I went to extremes to check the positive cables thinking that surely was the problem, still no dice, but I did not check carefully the negative cable, as I was thinking if the cables were the problem, it's most likely the pos cables. That will be my luck, the negative cable and I now have it at the dealer. They'll tell me it was the negative cable and charge me $200. I'll post the answer when I find out the problem to this very annoying and elusive problem.

Well I was glad to know that I'm not as bad of weekend mechanic as this dammed volt lite had me thinking, I finally had to resort to taking it to the dealer who said it was some darned electronic module (or so they claimed) for $200 and another C-note for labor, so it wasn't a bad connection, alternator or battery after all. Nothing that money won't solve at your local Mr. Good "Wrench-money-out-of-your-pocket". But I'm happy they got it.
