I see on some other 98 Isuzu posts that the Exhaust manifold needs to be off to get the starter out. Is this true on a 97 Rodeo 6 cyl. 4X4.
The problem is sometimes it clicks then starts fine for awhile, put in new battery still happens? Any other tips?
Thanks!

Not actually the manifold, but the pipe from the manifold to the cat converter. I dont know about '97 though, only done the one on my '99, sorry.

I believe you have to move part of the exhaust to get to the starter on the 4X4. I have the 4X2 and it was very easy. 1997. Have I seen a thread suggesting jacking the engine to gain some clearance on this board???

97 Rodeo 2WD V6 3.2 : Just put new starter motor on at 75000 miles. Fairly simple in that we didn't have to remove anything other than a mud flap for ease of access for passing to tools to mate underneath, hope this helps! Cherry
