I just bought a 92 Prelude with the 2.3 in it, and sometimes when im driving, the green light beside "D4" in the dash will blink on and off the whole time im driving, and other times it will just stay on solid. whats it mean when its blinking?

I was looking around, and i saw that the blinking D4 light means a trouble code, kinda like the check engine light, but for the tranny. so how would I go about retrieving the code?

also, I know that on some cars the transmission module bases shift points to an extent on speed sensors. Is this also true for Honda? I ask this because I think that the blinking D4 and my speedometer working sporradically might be due to the same problem, like something in the speed sensor circuit?

thanks for all the replies "sarcastic", but anyways, I also saw to diagnose te sensor, it need to be pulsing 5v, and 0v on and off and on and off if its a good sensor. but does anyone know if this is supposd to be while at idle, or with the car up on a lift and in drive?

I am definitaley convinced that this is a speed sensor problem, that or a problem in the speed sensor circuit. also, does anyone know if this would cause the tranny to shift hard after a while of not fixing the speed sensor? cause mine just started shifting hard, but it didnt used to.

Hi there, I had the same problem on my F22, the D4 was blinking the whole day, and the problem was that one of the plugs that goes to the tranny was cutted, so the car wasn't shifting to D4. I could feel the car staying on D3 the whole day. so first u might check all the (green) plugs that are connected to the tranny. I don't what to say about the speed sensor. Check the plugs first and let me know.
