Hyde @ Weatherly Hillclimb ... videos inside! ...

This past weekend was the Weatherly Hillclimb and Hyde took 1st place in SM2. Unfortunately I did not surpass the previous SM2 record for this hill set by Hyde in the fall.
The record from the fall was 60.0 and I got down to a 60.2 on my last run.
I was running extremely conservative all weekend as the road was extremely slippery and my intent is always to drive the car home.
I was also held back a bit by the slipping clutch. It only slips when "insanity power" gets put down so going WOT was proving fruitless on some of the steep parts. I actually ran the 60-second pass using 3/4-throttle. I may fabricate a throttle stop until the twin disc clutch gets installed.
60 seconds over a 1 mile course ... that's a 60 mph average speed :D
Not too shaby when you consider turn 3, the wall, is posted for 5 mph.
I am waiting for the results to see how Hyde finished over all in raw times.
Anyway, here's the fun stuff:
Cin shot this with her little point-n-shoot camera that takes short videos with NO SOUND. I was launching soft because of the clutch and I missed 2nd gear .... but watch how Hyde takes off after the first telephone pole!
Video #1 (http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/images/cin_cellphone_cam_Hyde_Weatherly_hillclimb_spring_ 2006.wmv)
This is filmed with the Chase Cam mounted in the front bumper where the p-side fog light would be. This was from Saturday when the course was very slippery. This is a 6 meg file, but it is "internet resolution." For me to share this high quality it would have been close to 30 megs! I love this Chase Cam set up ... it's truly awesome.
Video #2 (http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/images/Hyde_Weatherly_hillclimb_Chase_Cam.wmv)
This is my last and fastest run of the weekend (60.2). I was much more aggressive as the sun was out and the road was coming alive and there was a lot more grip. With grip comes confidence so I went for it on the last run.
Video #3 (http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/images/Hyde_Weatherly_hillclimb_Rollbar_Cam.wmv)
Incidently, I was intentionally trying to not get "big air" on the jump this year as I destroyed 3 rear swaybar endlinks during my last 3 visits to Weatherly :(

2 and 3 are not working. The first one was pretty nice.
How far away were you from FTD? When is the twin-disk clutch getting installed?

How far away were you from FTD?
I think FTD was about 55 seconds and was done by this:

When is the twin-disk clutch getting installed?
Good question. ARP is custom making flywheel bolts for this project ... it could be 6-8 weeks :(

Ya'll still haven't figured out when my posts are sarcastic, man, even on the internet I'm taken serious as hell. I can never make a joke or just mess around with my friends cuz everyone thinks I'm so serious.
From now on I'll be adding "/sarcasm" on my posts so there won't be any confusion.

These are great videos.
Damn that car is fast, you have a very smooth driving style, but you can see the keys in the ignition flying around to get a good idea of the sort of accleration and corner grip it has.

Thanks everyone ... you guys need to come out and check out a hillclimb if you get the chance. They are free to spectate and they are all over the place. I made this list here: http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/ushillclimbs.htm
I am dirving Hyde at about 8/10th or maybe 9/10ths sometimes. I do not push 100% on the hills as my primary concern is always bringing the car home. I can post great times up there without being on the ragged edge.

The results are in. Over all classes, raw times, Hyde was 9th out of 79 cars:
http://www.pahillclimb.org/Results/2006/2006_Spring_Weatherly.pdf
The only "door car" faster was the Audi which is a full-blown ITE race car.
It's atruly awesome beast with power everywhere.
So much for trying to not jump

Thats not a jump, its a gentle exercising of the suspension limits. ;)
Do you ever get a chance to take Hyde out to a full circut, with proper run off areas so you can wind it up and try the full 10/10ths?

Hyde has not been on a circuit ... yet.
At this point he will be on the Fabi circuit in Kingston Canada in July, but that is a short, tightish course. I've driven it before in Jekyl.
If money allows, I am hoping to run the Redline Time Attack at Summit Point in August. We'll see. Money has been horrible this year :(
