Is it possible to put a turbo on a 98 automatic sohc vtec engine? Not to sure if it's a good idea to or not. If you can, who makes a farely in-expensive one? If ya guys could let me know, help would be much appreciated.

Like I have said before, you can pretty much turbocharge any engine. I don't see why you would have a problem running a turbo; there are plenty of 4cyl, SOHC, Automatic cars that are turbocharged out there.

i have a greddy turbo kit on my sohc auto..works perfectly fine....the only downfall is u have to power brake if u wanna spool off the line....something good is that u really cant redline and kill your engine cuz the ecu wont let u....u can run about 10 pounds of boost daily with the right fuel management on it....

Greddy makes a 98 turbo kit? Didn't see it on their website. I was hoping they did because they have lower priced kits. Don't have to much to spend and was hoping I could find one for about 1500-2000. I even considered building my own but the only information I have is from the homemadeturbo.com and that isn't to reliable....went through like 5 motors, and I don't have a budget to buy replacements. Is there anywhere that does have a pretty good plans on building one?

its the kit for the 5 gen civic...they made it for those....years....greddy has one in the works for the 6 generation civics but that is gonna be really pricey around the 3 thousand range...its an 18g turbo....u can get a 5th gen turbo kit and intercooler and modify it a bit...theres really nothing to it....pretty much everyone with a turbo for a 6 gen has this one..runs real nice...small turbo so it spools fast and has nice high end rpm power when vtec kicks in

Where can I go to find out what adjustments must be made to the 92-95 greddy turbo kit so it will work on a 98 civic? From everyone I have talked with, there shouldn't be any probs with getting it. Just gotta find out what must be done to it so it will work hehehe

Hondatool you said you have this kit.
How much boost are you running?
Have you had any problems?
At what RPM does the turbo spool up?
Any idea how much horsepower you've gained or quatermile ET's?

I'm thinking of buying one of these kits thanks for any info.

Cool dude! What are you boosting. Do you just have the basic kit with intercooler or have you done some more. Just curious:)

i boost between 6 and 8 pounds daily..no problems....as soon as i get myself a higher flow fuel pump im gonna run 10 pounds cuz i already have extra injectors, fuel rail and a fuel pressure regulator...and i vtec controller to monitor all that good stuff and bring vtec down to about 4500 rpms...maybe 4000....i have a thicker headgasket to lower my compression so i should be ok with 10 pounds

hey guys, i got a 2000 civic dx, go single cam no vtec, oh well gotta run with it, just talked to turbomanifolds.com and they said they can get manifolds for 350, downpipe was like 250 and they also carry new/used turbos, they sound good, for us with no greddy catering...too bad no have si... booty, but its all good cuz i think imma go with the manifolds.com , anyone know who installs turbos in southern cali? i might attempt to do it myself, but thats doubtful, cuz its the daily driver and all, dont wannt blow anything.... except some mustangs... and this one yellow chevy truck thats allways spanking me... =**( let me know wuts up, oh yeah they recommended a t25 or tdo5 turbo for my car? whats this mean?

is building a turbo all that hard? can you build one by simply matching what pieces you see in a kit, say like greddy's?

oh, and thank you for the responses guys! much appreciated

The advantage of a turbo on an auto is your not falling, in and out of boost. Like you do when shfting gears with a stick...

I see no problem with a turbo on an auto, manual would be better but oh well go fo rit is will work out fine in the long run. :alien:

HHHHMMMM, how can falling "in" and "out" of boost with a manual be better...?

hey guys, ryan here, my frankenstein turbo kits is getting the axe from the smog gods... i guess ill have to wait until i get the 3g's for the greddy kit for the 5th gen's. cause theres no way to pass smog test (in cali) with the kinda turbo setup i was gunna run, and gross polluter ticekts are 9 bills, weak sauce! so its gunna be a little go, mostly show now... getting apex n1 catback and aem adj cam gear, lemme know how everyone elses rides are doing

I have a question, how do you have your fuel managment set up aside from the fuel pump? Do you have any pics of the extra injectors and what computer are you using, VAFC? I just got my turbo installed and I'm running 5 lbs on a daily and that's without no upgraded fuel managment. I know that's not good but I'm waiting to get paid so I can bid on some DSM blue top injectors and some type of computer, maybe an AFC. I want to see how you have yours set up cause I want to run at least 6-9 lbs, def 9 lbs at the track or strip. I need some serious advice on what would be a good way of doing this fuel setup, any advice would be appreciated.

this thread is over a year old, let it die, read the user guidelines against bringing up old posts, its basis for being banned from the forum. thanks a bunch. most of these people if not all of them dont even post here anymore, so dont bother asking them questions.
