I have an '88 Civic LX (1.5L) that I just got from my brother. It sat a while before I got it. I'm trying to get it running again. I'm mechanically inclined but not a mechanic, so I need some help here. The engine rotates but won't start. I replaced the fuel filter, battery, and spark plugs so far. I threw some water remover in the tank along with some fresh gas. I've checked the electrical connections everywhere the best I can. The fuel pump comes on and the fuel is making it to the injectors. Oil, air filter, etc. are good. I checked the basics. Does anyone know why it's not starting??? I was thinking maybe the distributor cap or rotor? Or the pressure regulator? It acts like it's out of gas. I'm out of ideas.
Thanks!
J

yah, first see if you're getting spark. Does the check engine light stay on when you try starting it? pull back the passenger floorboard and look at that gold box (the ecu). If the computer is sensing a problem, it will blink (LED in the center of it). Count the blinks and report back to us.

your SURE that you are getting those two codes?
code 15 is ignition output signal...i don't know how to fix that off the top off my head because I've NEVER seen that one before. Try replacing the distributor, if not then replace the ignition?
As for the 19, that's for Automatic transmission lock solenoid. Not sure what that is either because i've never worked on an auto. Is your car even automatic? if it's not, then that probably means you read the codes wrong, or you have an automatic ecu in a 5speed car. The only solenoids on the tranny I know of are the ones located on the front of the automatic tranny (the look like little cylinders, like vtec solenoids). maybe try replacing them?

sorry i couldn't be more help...these are about the only two codes I don't know the common fixes for...and I don't have too much experience with auto cars.
