I'm working on a friend's 1994 Buick Park Avenue. At idle, at a stoplight, she said it just cut off with no warning. The service engine soon light comes and goes, but when I drive it, I can't feel or hear any kind of misfire, and it doesn't seem to be lacking power. Whats puzzling me is the OBD system. It has an OBDII diagnostic port, but my OBDII scanner won't read anything. I'm pretty sure that this car, being a '94, is an OBDI car. How do I get codes for this car. I was going to use the paperclip method in the pins on the diagnostic port, but it isn't a 12-pin connector.:banghead: I will appreciate any help.

You are right, the 1994 model is kind of a mix between OBD-I and OBD-II. It's not OBD-II, the system is still OBD-I, but unfortunately, you cannot pull the codes without a scan tool.
To get the codes, you need something like the Actron CP9145.
