Hello Guys so sunday night at 2pm me and my freind were driving around on (Stock 2006 6sp Maxima) and spoted an S2000 and decided to race it.
So we came up to the guy and ask if he wona run he was cool his like yea sure so we line up at Ocean Parkway from 30mph roll 1.2.3 go We instant got half car on him and start to pull shut down at about 90mph with 1 1/2 car on him 2nd race same 30mph roll 1 2 3 same out come ! so we decided to give him a jump so he jumps about a car on us and we catch up to him and had a fender on him at about 105mph and I see cops in front of us  slammed the brakes right away we though we fucked but they even didnt pay attantion just drive by us. got Lucky. anyway dude was cool and sas that he got pulled. I Personaly expected more from S2000 than that but they not that fast as i thought !

i really dont want to call bs on this one, but when i went to nissanusa.com the other day to build one for a price quote, you could only select automatic for both trims...............

that's strange. it says here that it's available in 6 speed. http://www.nissanusa.com/maxima/driving_dynamics_print.html

either way, i'm not too surprised by the outcome, the Max makes 25 more hp and about 100 more lbs of tq then the S2K. i've read about my generation maxima running a 14.2 stock in the 1/4, which is right around where the S2K's run. so, good kill for your buddy.

so are the stock 06 maximas faster than the 350 z's?

I saw an Altima SE-R beat a 350Z. I dunno if it was driver error though. I see S2000's at the track all the time. I have yet to be impressed by one. I don't believe the 13 sec. 1/4 mile claims at all.

They look nice and handle well though. I'm not trying to hate on them, just stating what I see.

i kno the SE-R is a little faster, but i was always under the impression that altimas and maximas were economy cars,, or maybe the s2k is severely overrated :dunno:

its not overated, lke 2000Ls1 said, i have yet to see a s2000 break the 13's (doesnt mean they cant or have not) buti have seen plenty in the mid 14's and a few in the low 14's 14.3-2

yea the maxima has more hp, and also weighs 600lbs more

so keep that in mind

I think the main issue with the S2000 is power over the curve. Most people just look at peak horsepower numbers. If you don't have power throughout the majority of your rpm band then your car isn't gonna be that fast.

When I was at Race Prep having my car dyno tuned they told me that they had dynoed an S2000 to 350+whp. I said, "wow, that's impressive". They then laughed, as they told me the guy only had it for like 600-1000rpms. The majority of the car's dyno was in the 100+whp range. My main point is that an S2000 primarily peaks at a catastrophic rpm, and doesn't have all that much power throughout the entire rpm range.

I'll use this as an example. My car's dyno, versus an S2000 that is supercharged. Please notice how much power is across the rpm band of the S2000 in comparison:

Exactly. When I drove one, I felt that you had to keep it in extremely high rpms the whole time, to really take advantage of it. I wasn't all that impressed with it either.

Nice kill.

But an s2000 on the road track would kill a maxima. Nice kill though.

that pretty much goes without saying.

You have to drive the piss out of the s2000. I have driven plenty and if your not on your game your gonna get beat. Different gears also help out the car alot.

Awhile back my buddy let me take his s2000 out for a few laps on the strip, he just has i/h/e and a test pipe and I had a few races...kept up with a turbo 240 he had maybe 3/4 a car on me not sure on the mods more than likely sr20 swapped, pulled an evo actually it was from around a 40mph roll till...i dont even remember but i was at the top of 4th when i let off. He just had a catback from what I could tell.

Raced a ws6 also which was not stock...kept up thru 3rd shifted to 4th and then he would just pull away easily.

Man, I know you've been around awhile, and you know you're Hondas, but I have a hard time believing this, IF you were saying the ws6 wasn't stock. I have quite a few friend's with them, and while my experience with s2000s maybe limited, I've seen ws6s pull 13 flats with long tube headers. I don't see an S2000 doing that with I/H/E. Again, I'm not really calling BS, maybe I misread your post, but that doesn't sound right to me.

It was not stock, it had atleast an exhaust system maybe a lid or something I dont know for sure. I should have stated we went from a 2nd gear roll (2nd gear for the S anyway) kept up thru third he was pulling but not hard yet and I shift to 4th and he pretty much walks away easily like I said, I dont know the mod's and it looked like shit so it may have been dogged out.

Ive been around here longer than most of the people/mods on the forums now. there should be no need to call bs on anything I say, I have no reason to write bs and simply never have written any bs. Things can happen its the real world if everything was perfect and was done out on paper then you could call bs but shit happends there are too many possibilities for error to call bs so quickly.

Im just saying that in general because when I came back to AF ive been seeing that alot lately around here alot of bs calling when it pretty much isnt needed. Ask a few questions like Igovert500 did and things can be straightened out easily.

As far as straight line performance goes, the s2k is close to worthless unless geared or driven by the stig.

I'm an s2k owner.

My buddy has gears in the mail as we speak. should be decent little car when he gets them in.

i call BS... dude i had an '01 s2000 and yes they r slightly overated then i wrecked it and got a 350z for bottom end power... and the difference in the two isnt that much its just the Z has bottom end power but slightly falls off at high rpm where as the s2k makes its power at high rpm... but I KNOW ur not sayin a damn bone stock heavy ass maxima makin less power than the Z outran an s2000 straight up... there is no way... i agree s2000's r a lil dissapointing... but come on... a maxima... which maxima's r quick for what they r... and i give them credit.. but either the driver sucked or i call BS. unless yall were just racing 60ft. or sumn.

I always assume both drivers cant drive worth a damn, that way it comes down to the cars:thumbsup: I mean how many of us here would be able to say we are proffesional caliber drivers, we're just normal people, we cant drive worth a shit.:dunno:

nice kill...I belive it....you guys have to remember this is a STREET RACE and anything goes...wether its a rookie driver or a anything else....I really dont like to mag race but when you have cars that are rated pretty close to each other in the 1320 then its deffinatly a possibility....
