Hello all....i have the new issue of classic cars which was discussed earlier....however i have just cut out the cutaway drawing from the issue and was hoping someone could help me isolate just the cutaway, make the lines on it crisper and darker, and make the white background on it a little whiter. I can post it here for everyones enjoyment if somone tells me how to do that...or i can e-mail it to somone who thinks they can help me out....i really appreciate it. Thanks!

Email the original scans to me and I will give it a whirl - I'd love to have the finshed copy and don't mind helping. I'm no Photoshop expert, but I do pretty well with it.

This actually ended up being one of the more difficult things I've done with Photoshop, but I'm happy with the results. Hopefully you guys will be too. :)

Don't you have the magazine? Just imagine a scan of those two pages.
The difficult part was the bleed through you always get from scanned pages in a magazine wherever there are white areas. Thankfully webslinger had stitched the two pages together perfectly into one file, but there was still a line down the middle that needed to go away which was another challenge.

Thanks again for doing this - I liked it so much I ended up having it put on a t-shirt through a promotional offer I found on the web (http://www.kleargear.com/1508.html). The image is being put on a 100% cotton pre-shrunk Hanes shirt for the introductory price of $2.99 plus about $5 postage. I figured for $8 it was hard to go wrong - I went through all of my McLaren images and this one seemed to be most suited for a t-shirt.
Please note that I have not received the shirt yet so can't speak as to the quality of the shirt or printing. Also note that I have no involvement with the promo offer - meaning this is not a referral deal or anything like that.:smokin:

I had a couple of McLaren F1 t-shirts made through cafe press a while ago. They were expensive and crappy. And they shrank after one wash. Getting ready to try again, this time with a reputable local printer. I will let you guys know and add your orders to mine, if you like. Cost will be closer to $20 per shirt, plus shipping.

1. There are 3 different caricature style images available from Koolart in the UK. They are available on many items besides t-shirts - hoodies, coffee mugs, etc, etc.
2. I have a client who owns a screen-printing company with national companies as accounts. He can print on any shirt so if somebody is serious about a run of shirts I can look into pricing. $20 is definitely on the high side but, of course, it depends on the quantity.

I have been waiting for this schematic for so long......
Are there any other schematics out there ?
Bought the magazine and was about to rip apart to join the image together and have a decent 1 page schematic. Now i don't have to.
Great job guys. this is my current wallpaper.

Anyone fancy taking a picture of a Gulf mclaren (1995) and replace the Blue with Roman Purple and the Silver with Gold then finally the orange with Yellow. I don't fancy repainting a model to see what it would look like.

Carbuilder, Why would you wanna do that . I think the gulf livery was the best livery the car ever came in.
Whats the reason for those specific colors ?
I have the ninco Mclaren, i have being toying with the idea of buying another and spraying it either lm orange or doing the gulf livery

i also thought the same about the lighter blue, until i saw one upclose, it certainly goes with the car, and definitely does not look crap :D :D :D

Just playing what if.
If I did aquire a Mac of my own and decided to change the colour must admit i would be tempted to go for the 1995 Gulf Livery, you dont see many 2 tone F1's. I then started thinking what other ex racing liveries could be applied and considered British Racing Green over gold, then the Silk Cut Purple over White and then thought combine the two and Purple over Gold. Just playing.

Its the engine,s air filter!!
If you look at an engine bay pic, you will see a removeable access panel. ahead of the air box/metering units. Its a fair size filter, so as not to restrict air flow to the 6.1 ltr v12 engine.

Thanks peloton25,
Think for a road car I would ditch the logos, but on the whole not to garish. I think the wheels would end up either Titanium or Gold.Maybe a slightly darker shade of purple as well.
Anyway well done and may just have a go at repainting an F1 model if I can find one with poor paint on ebay.

so who did the original technical illustration ghosted view of that maclaren then? and more inportantly how and where di he get the technical drawings to be able to pull it off? I am a technical illustrator and would have loved to have had a go at that project. Its a case of either get access to the car, or get access to all the hundreds of drawings to be able to create it.
I know Mclaren are VERY protective of their corporate logos and graphics what is the copyright on this issue?

If you are interested in working on it I have the full size PDF of this which is about 11 in X 17 in. PM me your e-mail address and I will send it your way. Or perhaps on of the awesome admins of the site can host it instead? Thanks guys!
