Exhaust Question????

I had 2 40 series flowmasters and a hi-flow magnaflow cat installed on my 02 gt a couple days ago. It sounds pretty good. But there is like a loud popping sound. It sounds like a bad metal kind of chatter. When I rev the engine in park the chatter starts at about 3500 rpms. I was just wondering if there is anything that I can do to get rid of that noise. A buddy of mine said it might be backpressure or something of that sort. Can anyone help? Thanks.

If you were driving down the road at llet say 60mph, down shift in 3rd grear w/ your auto, and i bet you will hear the same sound. Normal.

Yes, that is true I have done it and it does make the noise. It seems to do it more when the engine is cold. But after about 20 mins of driving it seems to pretty much go away. Also will the exhaust sound different after a couple weeks of drving? after everything gets worn in? thanks

Did you delete the resonator or is it still installed? I don't believe it is a backpressure issue. If nothing else you should have less.

Yes I did delete the resonator. It seems to have gotten better since I had the exhaust put on. It seems to have less of that noise each time I drive.

It probably will as carbon builds up or you are just getting used to it. The purpose of the resonator is to minimize those type sounds or resonant frequencies to include popping the exhaust could produce. So it is normal without the resonator.
