Whats up, I just had my 96 gst engine swaped for a 91 1st gen 6 bolt4g63t.
Now, everything is running good except for every time we try to start it, it makes a ugly clanking metal sound and then starts. The mechanic says he put a new starter, flywheel and clutch all for a 91 eclipse, and also says he did put 2nd gen starter bracket on it. He has tried about 3 other starters and it still makes the same sound, oh also,he did try putting washers on the starter to push it back some but, no difference. Just hoped anyone had some advice on maybe what the sound could be coming from and how to fix it. Quick note, the starters are all the same from 91 eclipse to 98 can someone answere.
