does any1 know how to get this ignition switch off and back on

its on the steering column I have a 1990 ford f350 truck

i just got home from vacation and found that some one drilled out the key hole and my key doesnt work i tryed using a screwdriver to turn the car on but that doesnt work either so i cant drive it

i guess i need to get a rental car untill i can change the switch

i took off the steering wheel cover and the main lugnut under it and the steering wheel still does not come off so i cant get behind it

if any1 knows how to get that ignition off so i can put a new one on let me know please

On one of my cars I had to remove the whole steering lock assembly. Look for two headless bolts that may be holding the steering lock assembly to the column. If you find them, use a dremel tool to make slots in them so you can use a screwdriver to remove them.

Just did this on my son's '95 F150. Remove lower plastic cover on steering colum, put the switch in the "on" position, and press (hard thump) the release button (small hole at about the 7 o'clock position under the key switch) while gently pulling the tumbler out. If you have a tilt wheel, you will have to drill out the release pin (same location) with a 1/8 th inch drill.

You might want to get a haynes manual. Normally the tumbler pushes a rod which turns the ignition switch on. Depending on the year you should check exactly what you are looking for. On a 1990 I would think it would be just below the bracket which bolts on to the dash. Disconnect the battery ground before working on it.
