My neon got over 300 000 km now. Think the bearing are starting to go. so I'm thinking on doing a rebuild. The thing is i dont want stock. Theres a few things i would like to know befor i start.
1. Bigger pistions = more hourse power. If yes what size should i go or can?
2. should i change the cam and cranck shaft if there ok?
3. the valves, get them redone if can, or go new?
4. oil pump works, should i just keep?
5. cooling system upgrade?
6. the 5 speed manual trann. should i do anything to it?(well not myself but a trany guy?
7. a light weight underdrive pulley is it worth it?
I will be picking up an aftermaket computer. Any info will be great thanks

to answey your piston size i think the biggest you can go safly was .30(someone correct me if im wrong) neon blocks where given the name of throw away blocks the very thin walled. and not mucgh roonm for boring
I would recomend a crane 12 for your cam shaft that way you dont have to get heavier springs
you could port and polish your head also and you could also upgrade your pcm
and yes imo i do believe a udp is well worth the money

... and you could also upgrade your pcm...
This may seem like a small detail-but I agree that it makes a difference. Especially in a Neon when they're know to be a little faulty anyhow. Think of it as early maintence :)

1,2&3- http://www.modernperformance.com/dcx/engine_rebuildkits.shtml
4. Would be replaced if you get one of the above kits, but don't generally go bad.
5. You can get a bigger radiator
6. Leave it alone, but you may want to put a new throwout bearing and a stronger clutch, like the PT clutch
7. Yes, they are worth it.
The only aftermarket PCM for the 95 is a Mopar PCM and they work great.

if he p&p's the head a 12 will not be to benifical. that cam would be to small at that point. you dont need to go with springs with the 14 either.

you dont need to go with springs with the 14 either.I think you do need upgraded springs with the #14. I'd go with them.

you dont "need" them. many including i have gone without the springs. i have seen bad things happen tho. now (because i have a better job) any time a cam goes in so do springs. but then again i dont waste time with little cams because if your done a head might as well port it and hit it with a hot ass cam.
