new buyer, too young?

im 17 and emancipated from my parents. dont turn 18 for another 6 months. but i have a job that i get about 1100. my insurance is 125 a month. my rent in total is about 350 a month. insurance was on my 91 Integra that i no longer have. i have no way to my job and around to the places i need to go. my mother wont co-sign a car loan for me, mostly because she is bi-polar. and i dont know my dad. i dont know anyone to sign a car loan with me. ive read i can buy a used car through a private seller and pay installments each month. as well as put a down payment on it. at the end of all the installments he/she can then sign the title to me. is this correct? are there any other options i might have for obtaining a newer car? the car i am aiming for is a Subaru Impreza RS. they usually run for about 7-10k i really need help.

There are a lot of legal technicalities in all of this... you're 17... in the USA it is illegal for anyone to make a deal with you simply because you can void your way out of ANY contract. See... you can go and buy a brand new M3... put payments on it... wrap it around a tree... and bring it back to the dealership and say u dont want it... it is now their problem, not yours. Most sellers know this and for that reason will not sell you anything... Thus, I'm sorry but you'll either hafta find someone trusting (a sucker) or wait till you're 18...

I note by your profile that you are in South Carolina, and from what I can see by Googleing, SC has not emancipated minor statute, so you need to clarify your legal status. Your right to contract will vary from state to state, as will the type of contacts you can disallow. Hit the library or book stores to see what the law is where you live. Good luck, sounds like you are doing the best in a difficult situation. You sound like a responsible person and I'm sure thing will work out for you if you keep focused on moving forward.

hey bud im 17 same deal no parents eather i have been in and out of the same problem a few times my solution go to a recker by a F***Ed up car fix it on your days off and drive that till u are 18 i got a van (i know its lame but what can u do in some situaltions) for 200 bucks never given me any problem and i got a wicked sound system in it so the chicks even start to dig it... that and a roomy back area :D good luck man with whatever u decide
