Converting from power to manual windows?

I have heard this is possible and I just purchased a 94 Transport and neither the driver side or passanger side window motors work. Does anyone know of a site with directions on how to do this? I would really appreciate it! Thanks :)

Welcome to the forum!

Are you sure it is the motors, and not the wiring and/or switches going to the motors? If both windows don't work, I would suspect the main switch or a fuse.

If it was me, I would try to get the current system working instead of installing manual windows. If you need help troubleshooting, just send a note here. I have page on the power windows here (http://www.my-chevy-venture.com/driver-side-window-switches.html) . It is for a 2001 Venture, but they are all basically the same.

If you are sure it is the motors, they can be acquired for a reasonable cost, either on eBay or some of the online sources.

Take Care,

Thank you so much for that information! I guess I made an assumption it is the motors... will definately try fuses first. I just got rid of my Buick that had the motor blown in one window, so I just figured it was the same with the van. lol. I will be working on this project over the next 3 weeks, there are other minor issues with the vehicle as well. I hope you don't mind hearing more from me :) Again, thank you so much for the page and info!

Hi mandzsmomma
As a newcomer here you should be aware that a great number of pages from the '93 transport are available here, www.avigex.ca/xport/index.txt and very few details are different from the '94. I agree with GregA that some corroded contact or switch is probably what's wrong with your windows. What GregA sent you does apply to your car, it is almost the same. May be for exact color coding you might look at this one also:

The driver side switch is a frequent problem as all current - even if you use the passenger switch - has to pass through the driver side switch, and this applies to +12V as well as ground .
Some more help if your doors are not "opened" yet:

TGhe pwrwindows breaker is in the convenience center .
