its an 89 cherokee 2wd 4.0.. it was in an accident (front end crash) just the bumper and corner light is damaged.
it was running fine after the crash but about a week later it died ..(was running shut it off tried to start it a few minuts later....dead) it cranks but no fire..
plenty of fuel but it seems to be no spark from the coil..
is there any comp fuses ? its my moms car..not used to jeeps.. any help would be great..

Based on the symptoms, I would suspect the crankshaft position sensor....there are lots of posts about it and it's not a tough repair.

the cps is located on the driver's side upper bell housing where the engine and trans bolt together. It looks like this http://catservices.wrencheadpro.com/smartpages/partinfo_resize/DUS/213-2565.jpg

Yep; but there are two different ones, make sure you get the correct part for your year.

For the 89 there is actually only one part number. Advanced carries it or can get the part for you. Replaced the same part in both my 89 and 90. It is fairly easy to replace.

It could also be the pickup coil/stator in the distributor, a much harder fix.
But my first guess would be the Crank sensor.

BTW, the Haynes manual has a very good picture of the carank sensor in chapter 6.
