well, i might as well continue my pattern of not loggin in for a few months then updating you guys on my progress. so here it is.

I HAVE DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! i dont think i have taken a wrench to my car or bought anything for it in the past few months at all. i guess i been relaxing now that its summer and soakin in the fact that i actually survived last semester without failing a class.

anyway, the only interestin thing that has happened:

i was driving back from kansas city. got off highway at the off ramp. checked my lift-off fiberglass hood to make sure it was all held down properly. everything was cool. started to get back on highway... turned music up... floored it on the on ramp (I was tryin to spice the drive up a bit).
got up to about 60mph on the onramp when i heard the front right hoodpin snap... causing the front of the hood to get sucked upward by the wind... the upward pull of the hood caused all the other hoodpins to snap also... which resulted in the hood skyrocketing into the air about 40-50ft.
(let me tell ya... its quite a site to see your hood take off like an airplane right in front of you)

as I slowed down, i looked in the rearview to see it come back down, but i never saw it come down. it was in the air for a while (it only weighs 10lbs). got out the car, walked back about 200ft, look around for my hood and finally found it laying perfectly in tact to the left of the onramp, in the grass right next to the highway. i stood there for a minute starring at the hood, scratched my head a few times while tryin to figure out how I was going to get this hood home, 2 hours away. left hood there, drove to hardware store, bought some stuff.... drove back, tied it down, drove home.

oh, and i broke something in my transmission downshifting to second gear from 60mph... which is not a problem, but my tranny shifts so hard, it broke somthing this time. now i have very little pressure is all manual gears. great.

i was really considering selling it for a while.

Reminds me of the song, leaving on a jet plain...
I am just glad it did not hit anyone. That would have sucked.

I have seen ice fly off a hood on the highway before just like that. But i wouldnt sell it after all that work you put in it. Im about ready to sell my s10 though, everything is breaking/broken. $600, get what you pay for.

If I remember right, you had the crappy v6 exhaust on there awhile ago when you got it dyno'ed? Ever get good exhaust put on it? If you do consider selling it, hit me up with a pm first, I might be interested, and I'm decently close to ya.

i have a modded 700R4.

and it was kinda funny at the time... i wasn't even mad, cause I have been thru so much with this car already. i just kinda shrugged it off and drove to the hardware store. i was glad that it didnt happen while i was on highway, cause that could have been really bad... hood would have been crushed to pieces and would have caused a rush hour accident.

yes i still have the tiny V6 exhaust still on it... like i said, i have done absolutely nothing. plus the only shop in town that has a chassis dyno is down for repairs right now anyway.

lol, wow. so me. last time my car broke down it was in a parking lot at night when i had work the next morning, and had just gotten it out of the shop. i wasnt even upset, or surprised even. just called for a ride, got it towed, and left.

If you ever head about three hours west of KC to Clifton (small arse town) or thereabouts, drop me a message, there is a fella in town here who does good work with exhaust and does it for a really good price. I'm pretty sure he can bend 3" in his shop. *If you have a reason to pass thorugh and have a couple hours to kill I could prob set up a appt for ya*
