Thief!!! :-(

Hello to all,

Can anyone tell me how much the cost will be for a replacement ignition key and remote for my 01 Durango? Some low life punk came into my office during the day yesterday and STOLE it from my office :-(:banghead:

I suppose it will need to be re-keyed and the remote reprogramed for my "D".

So far I'm OK cuz I'm using my spares.

Assuming the parts are available is it easy to be reporgramed?:screwy:

What color is the plastic coating,black or grey( the top half)?If it is the grey one,go to the dealer and it has to be programed with Chrysler's factory scan tool DRB III.It is about $75 t0 $85.00 for the key.

That does matter.The grey one has to be programmed with Chrysler's factory scan tool like I mentioned.The black does not,I am sure about this and call the dealer on this.You can get a key from the dealer,all they need is the vin and bring in your insurance slip just for the vin.

That's very interesting. The dealership wants $45 bucks to program my new remote to my Durango. He also says my key has a chip embedded into the plastic also. Looks like a standard ignition key with a plastic top covering the head.
Hmmmmm, something sounds fishy here.:screwy:

In either case guys/gals my keys were found by building security and returned to our receptionist. For now problem solved. I will reconsider getting another back-up set when my financies gets better. Thanks you all for your speedy posts.
